Web Services and Service Oriented Architecture have become common implementation paradigms. Over the years, new systems have been released in the field of smart cities, supply chains, electronic commerce, that combine the already consolidated paradigm of Web Services with emerging technologies as Big Data, with the use of open source software and internet information as social data, open data etc. Those systems not only are creating an Internet of Services, but they are giving rise to a new information systems architecture that is overpassing theory, thus letting classic IT education obsolete. To fill this gap, we present a framework of Service Systems and an approach to integrate Service Systems concepts into a higher education on Software Engineering.
