Growing evidence support a role for dysbiosis in the pathogenesis and clinical picture of chronic inflammatory conditions, including celiac disease (CD), due to expansion of gut pathobionts with a parallel decline of mutualistic bacteria. The aims of this study were to obtain a comparative metagenomic picture of salivary, duodenal and fecal microbiota composition in adult CD patients, and to assess whether the eventual dysbiosis differs among different clinical settings.
