The Authors report on cave breeding of Salamandra salamandra (Linnaeus, 1758) and Salamandrina terdigitata (Lacépède, 1788) in northern Apennines. Adults and larvae of Salamandra salamandra were found inside various natural and artificial caves up to 50 meters from the entrance. Egg masses of Salamandrina terdigitata were observed inside an artificial cave in Portofino's Park (Liguria).
