Abstract

Antonio Scarpa, one of the greatest Italian anatomists between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, dedicated to the neuroanatomical studies some important works accompanied by beautiful cal-cographic tables. His legacy still survives in traditional terminology, while his personality is remembered in an almost legendary portrait not without light and shade, handed down by generations of students of the University of Pavia.
