Data of the investigation on students attending library science and bibliographic courses at the Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage, University of Pavia, developed from 2013 to 2019 are presented. The aim of the research was the evaluation of the level of information literacy of the students before any formal education. During the beginning classes of each course, data was collected by means of a survey form. The form was organized in five parts: A. profiling of the student; B. research strategies; C. knowledge of the search tools; D. ethic use and reuse of information; E. knowledge of lifecycle of the book. The seven year long research data allows a diachronic analysis on information literacy skills of the students.
