In SSA the agricultural decline in domestic and International markets, the heavy farmers taxation, and the negative impact of price interventions have strengthen economic debate on two important and related policy issues: the agricultural incentive structure and the responsiveness of sectoral aggregate supply to relative prices. The analysis, based on a CGE model, analyses the potential costs and benefits in production, distribution, consumption and accumulation of a reduction in indirect taxes and an increase in import tariffs and of price shocks in agriculture and agribased system of Botswana.
