The TRIGA Mark II reactor of the Laboratory of Applied Nuclear Energy (LENA) of the University of Pavia has been operated for more than 45 years being at the disposal of researchers and of other Institutional and private users, to perform research activities, training and education and other services. Thanks to both the deep expertise gained in reactor operation and to the academic context in which reactor is operated, LENA developed a wide Education & Training (E&T) programme that is oriented to students and professionals involved in nuclear activities and that is developed both at theoretical and practical level. At the academic level, LENA provides and contributes to courses for Nuclear Engineering and Physics Master Degrees and for post-graduated International Masters, such as: Reactor Physics, Radiochemistry, Radiation Protection and Nuclear Instrumentation. Post-graduated Master courses are addressed to high level nuclear professionals for national and international market in the areas related, among others, to: applications of ionizing radiation, production of radioisotopes, environmental monitoring, analytical nuclear techniques, Integrated Management Systems for nuclear facilities. All courses are characterized by a sound theoretical part and a practical part performed at the reactor facility. In addition, LENA offers basic and advanced knowledge training courses for "nuclear technicians” to private Companies, Utilities and Governmental Institutions. Training programs, characterized by a significant experimental component, can be arranged with different levels of detail according to customer needs. LENA basic training modules focus on: Operation & Safety in Nuclear Plants, Radiation Protection, Analytical Nuclear Techniques and their applications, Quality Assurance for safety in nuclear installations.
