Abstract

The paper aims at verifying if the difference in grammatical behavior between simple and pronominal unaccusativity in Italian (usually referred to as split unaccusativity) reflects a difference in their event structure. We put forth a proposal of Event Structure representation for the two kinds of unaccusative verbs based on Generative Lexicon Theory.
