Abstract

The expansion of fish supplies to maintain food security is a priority concern in Bangladesh. There is huge potential for the further culture of non-native fish species to meet the needs of the growing population. Many farmers have improved their socioeconomic conditions through farming fish such as Pangasius, silver carp and tilapia, and consumption of the low-value fish has increased. However, the spread of non-native species into open water resources presents a threat to fish biodiversity.
