The paper presents the results of a research developed by a group from the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia on the theme of accessibility and usability of the historic urban Centre, according to the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Pavia. Starting from the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the consciousness that an accessible town (a town for all) is safe and comfortable and it can also be a resource for the development of activities such as cultural tour-ism, the research delineates a system for evaluating the level of accessibility based on objective parameters; the results of the research can be used to define pedestrian path without barriers and are also usable for programming the maintenance of the streets.
