This work proposes the design and realization of a novel measurement system for the acquisition and analysis of interface pressure data and the centre of pressure of a seated person, in order to detect the feeling of discomfort, pain and, eventually, the development of pressure ulcers. The continuous and automatic measurement of the individual’s movements contributes in the assessment of the psyco-physical condition of the person. The aim of this work is to obtain a system able to detect important parameters without being perceived by the subject and to perform a dynamic analysis of pressure distribution together with a continuous monitoring of the centre of pressure.

Abstract

This work proposes the design and realization of a novel measurement system for the acquisition and analysis of interface pressure data and the centre of pressure of a seated person, in order to detect the feeling of discomfort, pain and, eventually, the development of pressure ulcers. The continuous and automatic measurement of the individual’s movements contributes in the assessment of the psyco-physical condition of the person. The aim of this work is to obtain a system able to detect important parameters without being perceived by the subject and to perform a dynamic analysis of pressure distribution together with a continuous monitoring of the centre of pressure.
