The 9th CEISEE symposium has been held in Milan, Italy, in May 2013. It has been organized by University of Pavia. Pavia is among the oldest European universities, and it has been founded in 1361 by the Duke of Milan. Differently from most Italian universities, Pavia is an University city, with 25 colleges and student halls, like Oxford or Cambridge. The University of Pavia has been always ranked among the top Italian universities, and had professors as Volta (the inventor of the electric pile), Cardano (the inventor of the cardanic joint and of cubic equations), Golgi (a Nobel prize in Medicine) etc. In cooperation with Pavia, the symposium has been organized by the University of Milano Bicocca, the youngest university in Milan, founded in 1998, and Politecnico di Milano, the largest technical university in Italy, founded some 100 years ago. The symposium has been hosted by AICA, the Italian Society for Information Technology, that is associated to ACM. The theme of the CEISEE 2013 has been Software Engineering Education for Global E-Service Economy. In general terms, the topics of CEISEE 2013 included: • Education model for software engineering • Development of discipline on software engineering • Innovation and evaluation of software engineering education • Curriculum for software engineering education • Requirement and cultivation of outstanding software engineers for the future • Cooperation model for industries and software engineering education • Internationalization of software engineering education • Education for service science & engineering • Software engineering education for global e-services economics • Quality assurance and evaluation in software engineering education • E-Learning and support tools for software education • Course development for software engineering, internet of things, internet of services, service science and engineering, ICT application for enterprises, • Certification and authentication for professional education on software engineers • Interdisciplinary education in Service Science, Management of Information Systems, Quality of Services and Systems.
