The lecture address one important aspect of the global academic profession, that is the international mobility of scholars. First, it provides a definition of international mobility of scholars, or academics; Second, it reviews some problems arising when studying academics’ international mobility, and presents an analytical framework for studying adequately international academic mobility; Third, it applies this framework in empirical research on academics’ international mobility, and presents a possible outcome of this application identifying several types of international academic mobility.
