By substituting Y for Er in Er1-xYxCo2 the metamagnetic behaviour of the itinerant d subsystem vanishes beyond a critical concentration x(cr) approximate to 0.4. A decoupling of the common magnetic ordering of both magnetic sublattices is observed for x = 0.4 at ambient conditions and for x = 0.3 under pressure. When increasing the pressure beyond a critical value P-cr, only the R subsystem orders in both alloys, whereas the itinerant d sublattice stays disordered down to the lowest temperatures.

Abstract

By substituting Y for Er in Er1-xYxCo2 the metamagnetic behaviour of the itinerant d subsystem vanishes beyond a critical concentration x(cr) approximate to 0.4. A decoupling of the common magnetic ordering of both magnetic sublattices is observed for x = 0.4 at ambient conditions and for x = 0.3 under pressure. When increasing the pressure beyond a critical value P-cr, only the R subsystem orders in both alloys, whereas the itinerant d sublattice stays disordered down to the lowest temperatures.
