Abstract

This essay examines the sequence of the first three texts in Sonetti et canzoni. By exploring their metrical, syntactical and citational elements, one can perceive the way their conceptual substance and detachment from one another are effectively the result of a dialectical contact with the incipit of Petrarch’s Fragmenta elaborated through the filter of classical tradition. They also constitute the visible sign of Sannazaro’s remembrance and reworking of his own poems.
