The aim of this entry is to clarify the idea of “coalition enforcement”. This idea illustrates a whole theoretical background for interpreting the role of morality and violence in human and in non-human animal groups. In this last case it is useful to speak of the role played in coalitions of what we humans can call – anthropomorphically – “proto-moral conflicts”.
