La letteratura tiberiana: prospettive di ricerca

This paper offers a broad overview of Tiberian literature, considering not only the transmitted works but also the lost ones, as well as authors and texts belonging only partially or probably to Tiberian age and works not included into canonic literary genres. The aim of the paper is to break the static critic frame, which considers only a little number of authors and works, to valorize the ‘incertain boundaries’between Augustan and Tiberian age, on one side and, on the other, between Tiberian and Julius-Claudian age and to verify the definition of this period as an ‘inhibited generation’ from a cultural point of view. Both sections offer a synthesis of Tiberian genres and authors, focusing respectively on poetry and prose; the section dedicated to Tiberian poetry concentrates on the production of literary fakes and on the research of novitas; the section dedicated to prose centers instead on technical and scientific literature.
