Forensic nurses are Registered or Advanced Practice nurses who have received specific education and training. They play an integral role in bridging the gap between law and medicine. Forensic nurses have been officially recognized in various foreign countries, where they work in a variety of fields, including sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, neglect, and death investigation. However, forensic nurses are not currently fully recognized in Italy. In this paper, concrete examples of how forensic nurses are employed in some foreign countries will be discussed, and prospects for forensic nursing in Italy will be analyzed.

Abstract
