Abstract - This article explores the trends and trajectory of International Relations (IR) as a discipline according to the journal “Il Politico”. To this aim, it bases on the Teaching, Research & International Policy (TRIP) Project methodology to build a database that includes every IR article published in “Il Politico” from 1950 to 2019; and, to analyze each article in terms of region and period under study, research topic, paradigm, methodology and policy relevance. This article emphasizes that the IR contribution to “Il Politico” has increased over time; and, that the journal stands out as it cultivates the study of the IR discipline and of regional integration, namely issues that have traditionally been at the core of the research agenda of the Italian IR community, together with area studies and the study of comparative foreign policy
