Since the last decades, there has been lots of research on affect in teaching and learning mathematics. In this chapter, we show examples of different methodological approaches and outline recent issues arising from the research. Based on examples both from the literature and from contributions in this book, we show the variety of methods (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed ones) that are associated to research on affect in mathematics education. Finally, we highlight open issues, providing also some ideas about how recent research is dealing with them.

Abstract
Since the last decades, there has been lots of research on affect in teaching and learning mathematics. In this chapter, we show examples of different methodological approaches and outline recent issues arising from the research. Based on examples both from the literature and from contributions in this book, we show the variety of methods (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed ones) that are associated to research on affect in mathematics education. Finally, we highlight open issues, providing also some ideas about how recent research is dealing with them.File in questo prodotto:
