The National Theater in Mexico City was Adamo Boari’s most significant work. He dedicated fifteen years of his professional life to building it, between 1901 and 1914. In this chapter, different aspects of this building are analyzed, putting them in context both with the construction of other theaters in Latin America, between Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica and in Mexico. In these countries, the Italian architects, and engineers, and also many artists and craftsman worked in many new constructions that were realized between the end of the XIX century and early XX century. It explains the Boari’s original project and its characteristics. This chapter also develops the perspective of urban planning associated with the construction of this building. It also explains the problems in the foundation, the subsequent sink of the structure and the solutions to avoid it.
