The contribution is the result of an international investigation, developed at Colombian institutional archives and at the Mart Museum in Rovereto, Italy. This paper analyzes an unusual and innovative topic of the projects of Angiolo Mazzoni in Colombia. Here the Italian engineer, influenced by Futurism and Rationalism European, is carried away completely by emotions and by strong contrasts that a land as Colombia, landing of immigrants from different countries of the world, could only enhance. Mazzoni starts a new design process marked by strong contrasts with the new Colombian colleagues, but his reputation as designer was such that his creative vanity never was obscured. Over a hundred projects proposed in little more than ten years in Colombia, but of these only some partially realized. It is clearly a major innovation in the stylistic research that reflects the colors of the Latin America as the signs of a country colonized by the Spanish for over four centuries. Still it is evident a strong interest for the eclectic forms, an interest that does not renounce to dialogue with the highest expressions of Rationalism.
