Abstract

When conceived in the best possible way, a design idea is a work of art and only its master can bring out its extraordinary and noble qualities. If we made believe that we were in the Orient talking to a tea master, he would tell us that there are good teas and bad teas, in the same way that there are beautiful works and ugly works. However, no master would give us the best recipe for preparing a good tea, because no such recipe exists, in the same way that the splendour of the European Renaissance and of the Italian Renaissance, in particular, was not produced by a fixed set of rules.
