The paper presents a complete review of the population dynamics going on in the central and northern part of Lombardy during the Iron Age. The two sites of Bergamo and Parre are selected as they tell a story of shifting balances and reciprocal influence during the early Iron Age, culminating in the full urban development of Bergamo and the subsequent rediscussion of the political relationship with the surrounding land.
