In this supplement of BMT, the reader will find papers from the invited speakers, as well as the Abstracts of the 6th Meeting of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) Paediatric Diseases Working Party and of the 1st Meeting of the EBMT Paediatric Nurses, organized by Jacek Wachowiak in Poznan (Poland) in June 2008. During the last decade, we have witnessed tremendous progress in the field of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The 6th EBMT Paediatric Diseases Working Party Meeting in Poznan offered a unique opportunity to summarize this progress from the paediatric perspective and to elaborate new common ideas and researches, aimed at further optimizing the HSCT procedure in children, as well as at improving patient outcome.
