Prossemica Architettonica. Riflessioni sulla socialità dell’Architettura

The paper aims to tackle the thought of J. Ruskin on the issues of educational value and sociality related to architectural discipline. Particular interest is given to the concepts of architectural sincerity, authenticity and public domain of the work. Architecture, as a participant in the flow of time, is a tangible memory for man and therefore its protection appears to be fundamental, both from an educational-cultural point of view and a strictly social one. The path opened by Ruskin on heritage conservation thus becomes a debated and complex argument, characterized by scientific and technological implications and linked to the progress of research. It is necessary to investigate the developments connected with the restoration, analyzing them and also taking into consideration the built human-environment dualism, in accordance with Ruskin’s conception that art is not such if it is not inserted in a social order.
