The essay presents an introduction to the monographic issue of "Comunicazioni Sociali" entitled Playing Inclusion. The Performing Arts in the Time of Migrations: Thinking, Creating and Acting Inclusion. Starting from the structural dimension of migrations and the different integration models, the authors analyze the contemporary cultural and social processes, trying to highlight how the performing arts and practices can be resources in facilitating intercultural inclusion paths. The scenario emerging, while not exhaustive, is a provisional and open reply of the performative arts to the urgent social changes and political tensions. Its unifying trait lies perhaps specifically in the variety of ways experimented and in the exchanges between the theatre with artistic vocation and social theatre.
