“La ricerca della differenza”. Interventi e progetti fuori dal “sistema” nell’attività di Ugo La Pietra tra il 1967 e il 1973

Eclectic and volcanic character, in sixty years of activity Ugo La Pietra (Bussi sul Tirino, Pescara, 1938) forced in an open and transversal perspective the statutes of the disciplines - painting, architecture, design, cinema, video, publishing and music - and formulated utopian and provocative projects and theories, constantly balancing between ironic fun and social commitment, continually claiming new spaces for creative, individual and collective behavior. This contribution, concentrated on a short stretch of the path of La Pietra (1967-1973), intends to enucleate the main lines of analysis, chronologically and conceptually intertwined, resulting from its refusal to operate in the logic of systems in which community is organized and realized in aesthetic operations that can decode its contradictions, while offering the tools to break the preformed schemes. An action begun in the 1960s with the "Debalancing system", the "Dives" and the reconnaissance on "The degrees of freedom", continued with the "Recovery" and the "Reinvention" of objects, places and spaces in which develop your own inventiveness and finally landed at a methodical enhancement of traditional handicrafts, in the certainty that small movements can modify reality.
