This work aims to investigate the evidence related to the cults practised on the acropolis of Ortigia (Syracuse). An initial analysis of the structures found there and of the possible chronological phases identified by the various excavations that have taken place in the area is accompanied by the study of a class of materials – the so-called Eastern Greek pottery – from the votive deposits associated with these cults. The aim of the article, which is part of a broader project of reconstruction of cults, identity, political choices, and international relations in Syracuse, is to propose an updated and reasoned picture of the architectural and pottery evidence found on the acropolis in a diachronic perspective.
