The article proposes some considerations on the “election night”, the tv programmes that, when polls are closed, present and discuss voting results and that constitute a crossroad for the consequences of the elections. After a discussion of the relationships between electoral reforms of the Nineties and Two-thousands and the “stake” of the election night, the article analyses some aspects of the election night of 14th April 2008: programme scheduling, availability and quality of survey and electoral data, interpretations of the vote. Then the article speculates on the reasons of such a massive programme scheduling, a difficult use of (not fully accurate) data, partial interpretations of the results. In conclusion, a different use of data (exit polls and surveys) is proposed in order to contribute to a more informed public discussion.

Abstract
In conclusion, a different use of data (exit polls and surveys) is proposed in order to contribute to a more informed public discussion.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
