Microfluidics refers to the science of dealing with fluids in microchannel; the miniaturization confers additional characteristics that can be exploited in order to perform processes not otherwise possible in macroscale, offering primarily new skills in controlling the molecular concentration in space and time. This emerging technique can greatly improve the fabrication of nanoparticulate drug delivery systems at their industrial scale. The book chapter gathers both theoretical aspects related to microfluidic technique and technical aspects related to microchip device geometries and materials, together with some examples of microfluidic application in liposomes, lipid nanoparticles and polymer nanoparticles manufacturing. The goal is to deliver knowledge on this emerging technique and to make an update on the scientific advancements on this topic.
