Abstract

Ius originis and filiation are two sides of the same coin, as an examination of Latin Patristic literature and, in particular, of St. Hilary’s De Trinitate attests. Jurists and the Fathers of the Church use – albeit, of course, in two significantly different contexts – the same institutional mechanism: and the latter, in fact, use, like the former, the expression naturae veritas to connote legitimate filiation.
