Abstract

The use of Colon Classification, 6th Edition, over the course of five years demonstrated that a faceted classification system offers significant advantages in organizing documents within a modern library, despite the fact that CC is still in need of updating and revision. A comparison between the Colon Classification and the Dewey Decimal Classification is presented, on the basis of more than 2000 resources, the Resolution Power (R) of a classification (CL) was created and defined as a measure to compare CC and DDC, and results of comparison are presented.
