Apollonius of Rhodes’ fr. 13 Michaelis, putatively from the treatise Πρὸς Ζηνόδοτον, comes from a scholium ascribable to Aristarchus via Aristonicus in the ms. Venetus A and witnesses the variant reading κεφαλάς preferred by Apollonius to ψυχάς in Hom., Il. 1.3. A longer version of that scholium, preserved in the mss. AgBdP of the h family of the Iliad, arguably allows to retrieve a larger portion of Apollonius’ fragment, where he supports his reading κεφαλάς by quoting Il. 9.407 ἵππων ξανθὰ κάρηνα.
