Abstract

Life on the planet has continuously regenerated and sustained itself for billions of years. The functioning of ecosystem services has been affected, risking their resilience. In this situation of converging multiple crises, an urgent and radical rethinking of our degenerative and destructive model of development is needed. Sustainability is no longer enough, we need to move towards regenerative sustainability and regenerative development, which aims to heal our damaged world, enabling it to evolve into thriving living systems in which the health and well-being of the entire system are continuously increasing. To move to a regenerative paradigm, new goals, purposes, narratives, practices, and standards need to be recognized. This closing chapter of the book “Regenerative Design. New Contexts, new visions, Emerging Practices and Perspectives” aims to review and reflect on the main conclusions of new approaches, experiences and narratives, discussions around our necessary affiliation with nature, around Regenerative Thinking, Regenerative Development, and Regenerative Design, from the urban scale to product design scale, from rural to urban contexts, from the application in communities to the importance of generating a suitable framework for learning, development and resonance, to extract guidelines for future regenerative design approaches and for a regenerative, better and possible living future.
