Furnos reliquisti quare? Critical and Exegetical Notes to a Latin Canon of the Ars Nova repertoire · The subject of this contribution is one of the longest and most complex Latin texts in the Ars Nova repertoire, a three-voice canon attributed to the composer Egardus. The canon displays a high degree of literary sophistication and is related to a similar composition attributed to Thomas Fabri. The contribution presents some criticaltextual choices, offers an exegesis of the text and highlights some stylistic-formal characteristics, focusing in particular on the theme of the relationship between text and music. The numerous ‘metamusical’ elements signal a profound interrelationship between the text and the musical structure that also seems to invest the content and meaning of the composition itself.

Abstract
The numerous ‘metamusical’ elements signal a profound interrelationship between the text and the musical structure that also seems to invest the content and meaning of the composition itself.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
