What You Need proposes strategies for adapting existing residential neighbourhoods to better meet the needs of their inhabitants while safeguarding urban voids as essential spaces for innovative social activities. The project begins by defining levels of adaptability according to spatial scale and duration of use. This method—moving from the domestic to the urban scale—leads to three design strategies that we believe can be applied to other contexts with linear residential buildings: the graft, which inserts new structures between existing ones; the slab, which creates visual and functional continuity between new and old; and the bay, which introduces urban inlets accessible from commercial frontages that expand near residential areas. Overall, the project aims to strengthen the landmark character of the housing blocks while preserving existing green areas wherever possible. At the same time, it seeks to reactivate the district through new commercial activities that stimulate economic development and counteract its current mono-functional nature.

Abstract
At the same time, it seeks to reactivate the district through new commercial activities that stimulate economic development and counteract its current mono-functional nature.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
