Abstract

This work explores the concept of critically reinterpreting urban fragments and their historical layers, using the Pavia cover bridge as a case study. This iconic location reflects the city's transformations. The physical evidence and lost spatial relationships provide an opportunity to gain knowledge and generate new interpretations of urban space. In this context, digitisation and representation practices are examined as tools for critical investigation that can restore continuity to what has been dispersed by history. Transposing three-dimensional data into digital, physical and augmented models transforms documentation into an interpretative and participatory process. Technological tools are not merely used for reproduction, but also to promote collective awareness. The renewed image of the digital urban space has scientific and cognitive value, amplifying symbolic expression without replacing matter and offering new possibilities for dialogue between the city, memory, and citizenship.
