Abstract

The paper deals with the Russell's analytic philosophy and aid to uncover logical and philosophical suppositions concealed beneath the superficial structure of statements in ordinary uses of language. Russell's most important contribution to the philosophy of language is represented by his theory of descriptions. He in fact argued that proper analysis of denoting phrases, such as descriptions and proper names, enables us to represent all thought symbolically, thus avoiding philosophical difficulties about non-existing objects.
