Capacitive coupling was adopted in the treatment of 21 athletes with 25 stress fractures and 23 patients with 24 non unions or delayed unions. Capacitive coupling consists of bone stimulating sinusoidal electric wave (3-6,3 V, 5-10 mA and 60 kHz) conveyed with skin electrodes. The results, evaluated with radiological and clinical criteria, showed that 62% of non unions and 88% of stress fracture healed. Failed eases were due to lacking of vascularity (old carpal scaphoid fracture), muscles interposition and/or wrong tensile stresses caused by external fixation devices
