The importance of the autonomic nervous system in the genesis of cardiac arrhythmias has become progressively more evident. Clinical and experimental observations have brought new insights into the relationship between cardiac arrhythmias and the autonomic nervous system and have suggested new strategies for the prevention of sudden cardiac death. Holter recordings of the minutes preceding the onset of lethal arrhythmias, together with the results of clinical trials with antiadrenergic intenentions in postmyocardial infarction patients, have further established the relation between sympathetic activity and life-threarening ventricular arrhvthmias.

Abstract
The importance of the autonomic nervous system in the genesis of cardiac arrhythmias has become progressively more evident. Clinical and experimental observations have brought new insights into the relationship between cardiac arrhythmias and the autonomic nervous system and have suggested new strategies for the prevention of sudden cardiac death. Holter recordings of the minutes preceding the onset of lethal arrhythmias, together with the results of clinical trials with antiadrenergic intenentions in postmyocardial infarction patients, have further established the relation between sympathetic activity and life-threarening ventricular arrhvthmias.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
