Commercially available 0.4 g sheets of natural uranium can be used as “fission-gamma” dosimeters. This is accomplished by using the gamma lines of Ba-140 and/or La-140, members of a well known beta minus chain starting from the heavy fission fragment Xe-140, in order to measure the neutron fluences usually employed in the fission track method (FTM). Although a detection technique different from nuclear track detection must be employed, this dosimetry is interesting since, as in the case of minerals dated by FTM, it is based on the U-235 (n, fission) reaction. Assemblages containing fission-gamma (or “barium”) dosimeters, NBS glasses and foil dosimeters were irradiated with neutron fluences of 1015 cm ', and the responses of the dosimeters were compared. For neutron fluences of lO^-lO14 cm 2, these dosimeters were compared with another natural uranium dosimeter: thin uranium films adjacent to muscovite sheets. On analysing the experimental results, it can be seen that there is agreement between the fluences measured by different dosimeters
