The aim of this study was to examine differences in cycling efficiency between a mountain bike (MB) and a Twist Bike (TB). Twist Bike is an innovative bicycle with a new propulsion system in which the pedals run on a rectilinear trajectory very similar to a step movement. The bicycle, presented for the first time as a prototype in 2008, offers interesting features with regard to mechanical and physiological aspects.
