In this contribution some possible hints for SL teaching, deriving from research on L2 Italian, are presented. After a sketch on the presence and the origin of pupils with a migration background attending Italian schools, the main teaching implications of SLA research results on developmental sequences are discussed, in the light of Pienemann’s (1998) teachability hypothesis. It is claimed that, taking into account this hypothesis, a teacher can be facilitated in the competence assessment of his/her pupils and in grading his/her instructional input. Some basic principles of language acquisition and processing are then recalled, in order to help language teachers to grasp the logic of the evolution of interlanguage grammars and to contribute to a creative and well-informed teacher education.

Abstract
In this contribution some possible hints for SL teaching, deriving from research on L2 Italian, are presented. After a sketch on the presence and the origin of pupils with a migration background attending Italian schools, the main teaching implications of SLA research results on developmental sequences are discussed, in the light of Pienemann’s (1998) teachability hypothesis. It is claimed that, taking into account this hypothesis, a teacher can be facilitated in the competence assessment of his/her pupils and in grading his/her instructional input. Some basic principles of language acquisition and processing are then recalled, in order to help language teachers to grasp the logic of the evolution of interlanguage grammars and to contribute to a creative and well-informed teacher education.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
