The Hrabanus Maurus’ De rerum naturis is a work very interestng because shows some signifiant aspects of fortune of Isidore’s Etimologies. In particular, Hrabanus and all medieval writers considerate Isidore anantecedent both for tradition of encyclopedic genre and for contents and settings of his works, that the Carolingian culture integrate by allegorical or mystic interpretation. This work aims to analyze “reasoned” (not mere compilative) presence of extracts from etym. 11, 1 (“De homine et partibus eius”) on book 6 of the De rerum naturis, examining both the contents and the critic and textual form, and studying the various ways to compilate and re-write the source in the light of characters of new age in wich Hrabanus produced his encyclopedic view of world.
