Il ricorso sempre più diffuso alla rete come strumento di ricerca da parte di studenti e ricercatori pone problemi di valutazione della qualità e dell’autorevolezza delle informazioni disponibili sul Web. L’articolo presenta un approccio sistematico ai meccanismi di produzione, trasmissione e ricezione di informazioni false nel Web, analizza il problema in relazione al futuro del servizio bibliotecario e dimostra che è indispensabile comprendere bene questi meccanismi ed esserne consapevoli – sia come lettori che come bibliotecari – per utilizzare le informazioni in modo critico, corretto e creativo.
