Clitics have given rise to an enormous number of studies. In particular, they have been (and still are) an extremely popular topic of research in various versions of generative grammar, including Minimalism, and other formal theories such as Optimality. Even just listing relevant contributions on clitics would take much more than the space allott ed for this chapter, so the interested reader is referred to Nevis et al. Romance pronominal clitics and P2 clitics as instantiated in some ancient Indo-European languages, with a focus on Hitt ite and on Ancient Greek.

Abstract
Clitics have given rise to an enormous number of studies. In particular, they have been (and still are) an extremely popular topic of research in various versions of generative grammar, including Minimalism, and other formal theories such as Optimality. Even just listing relevant contributions on clitics would take much more than the space allott ed for this chapter, so the interested reader is referred to Nevis et al. (1994), and, for more recent publications, to other works cited in the references.2 Here I limit myself to analyzing some aspects of two types of clitics, viz. Romance pronominal clitics and P2 clitics as instantiated in some ancient Indo-European languages, with a focus on Hitt ite and on Ancient Greek.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
