The RD52 calorimeter uses the dual-readout principle to detect both electromagnetic and hadronic showers, as well las muons. ScintillationandCherenkovlightprovidethetwosignalswhich,in combination, allowforsuperiorhadronicperformance.Inthispaper,wereportondetailed,GEANT4 based MonteCarlosimulationsoftheperformanceofthisinstrument.Theresultsofthesesimulations are comparedingreatdetailtomeasurementsthathavebeencarriedoutandpublishedbytheDREAM Collaboration.
