This conceptual paper aims at opening up debate on one of the most important concepts regarding the entrepreneurial origins of organizational routines: the entrepreneurial orientation. In this work we advance the entrepreneurial orientation conversation in arguing that entrepreneurial orientation might be something that ‘evolve’ over time. We argue that this change is closely related to the firm’s organizational learning processes, which are linked to organizational routines. Suggesting a 'cross-fertilization' between the organizational literature and the entrepreneurship research, we propose a framework in which entrepreneurial orientation, organizational learning and organizational routines are mutually related.
