Abstract

This paper presents a novel design for direct-on-line (DOL) Synchronous Reluctance motors, using optimal rotor lamination design for both the synchronous structure and the asynchronous part that guarantees the DOL starting capability. Pros and cons of the approach are highlighted and analysis outcome is compared with prototype test results.
